 FRSC CONFIRMS FATAL CRASH THAT KILLED 12 VICTIMS AT GADA BIYU ALONG YANGOJI–ABUJA CORRIDOR The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has confirmed a fatal multiple vehicle road traffic crash that claimed twelve lives at about 1145hrs on Sunday, 11 January 2026, at Gada Biyu, along the Yangoji–Abuja (YGJ–ABJ) corridor. According to a statement signed by the Corps Public Education Officer, Segun Ogungbemide, The crash involved four vehicles: one commercial trailer conveying coal, one commercial bus, and two commercial cars.  Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident could have been caused by speed violation and dangerous driving which led to loss of control. Further information gathered indicated that the truck driver was driving at an excessive speed beyond the legally prescribed limit for the corridor, lost control, and crashed into already parked vehicles, triggering the fatal collision. EX- SUG PRESIDENT SHOT DEAD IN AHEAD, RIVERS STATE. (PHOTO).

 A young man identified as Endwell Ejindu has been shot dead in Rivers State. 


The incident occurred in the Ahoada East Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday.


Ejindu was the Student Union Government (SUG) President of the Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Port Harcourt, during the 2017/2018 academic season.


Details gathered suggest he was part of the youths who protested at the council headquarters on Tuesday as a viral social media video showed him chanting songs and waving an Ijaw Youth Council flag alongside some youths.

Though details are sketchy, eyewitnesses said while on a commercial motorcycle, he was shot at close range by unknown assailants along the Ula-Upata Road in Ahoada main town at about 9pm on Tuesday.


The Rivers State Police Command has not commented on the issue as of press time.


Ejindu’s death brought the number of lives lost in the state in the past 24 hours to three. A cop and a vigilante operative were shot dead at Eberi-Omuma on Tuesday.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity.
