  Portable breaks down in tears and apologizes again for slapping preacher Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, broke down in tears as he issued yet another apology following a confrontation with a preacher outside his bar. The singer's apology, which is his second in a row, comes after gospel singer Testimony Jaga gave Portable a three-day ultimatum to apologize to the pastor or face unspecified consequences. The controversial street star explained that his reaction was due to a past traumatic experience involving his sister, who was once attacked by someone posing as a pastor. He added that he would not have slapped the preacher if he knew he was a "true man of God." However, in a recent video, Portable is seen on his knees crying profusely, as he expressed remorse for his actions against the preacher. JERRY WEST, ONE OF BASKETBALL'S GREATEST PLAYERS, DIES AT 86.(PHOTOS).

 Jerry West, One of Basketball’s Greatest Players, Dies at 86




He was a high-scoring Hall of Fame guard for the Lakers and later an executive with the team. His image became the N.B.A.’s logo.

Jerome Alan West, known to most as Jerry West, has passed.  Jerry was born 28 May 1938, to parents, Howard West and Cecile Sue Creasy West, and passed 11 Jun 2024.  Our family has always been very proud of the boy, the man, and his accomplishments.  Please keep Karen, his wife, and children in your Prayers.  At this time, I have no other information about his death.  I know others on Facebook are also related to his family; some via Trail, however, we are cousins via our Slack family.  The photos should be:  his Lakers Basketball days, his family in eastern Kanawha County (he is the little blonde on the front row, right), his West Virginia University days, and Jerry at his restaurant, "44 West" at The Greenbrier, Jerry - East Bank High School.  If you click on each photo, you can see it in its entirety.  I feel certain I have other photos to add in a bit.

Jerry West, who emerged from West Virginia coal country to become one of basketball’s greatest players, a signature figure in the history of the Los Angeles Lakers and a literal icon of the sport; his is the silhouette on the logo of the National Basketball Association, died on Wednesday.  He was 86.


The Los Angeles Clippers announced his death but provided no other details.  West was a consultant with the team in recent years.


For four decades, first as a player and later as a scout, a coach, and an executive, West played a formidable role in the evolution of the N.B.A. in general and the Lakers in particular, beginning in 1960 when the team moved from Minneapolis to Los Angeles and he was its first draft choice.


He won championships with several generations of Laker teams and Laker stars and was an all-star in each of his 14 seasons, but except for his longtime teammate, the great forward Elgin Baylor, who retired without a championship, there may have never been a greater player who suffered the persistent close-but-no-cigar frustration that followed West for the bulk of his career on the court.
