 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. THE GRUESOME MURDER OF ABIGAIL STANLEY ALLEGEDLY BY THE FATHER MR STANLEY OVEMUREYE IN AGBARHO

CP ABANIWONDA OLUFEMI ORDERS A MANHUNT FOR THE FLEEING SUSPECTS


The Command is aware of the gruesome murder of one Abigail Stanley ‘f’ aged 6 years, allegedly by the father one Mr. Stanley Ovemureye. The sad and painful incident which occurred on 15/6/2024 was reported by the brother to the fleeing suspect. The DPO on receipt of the complaint detailed operatives who went to the scene at Uviama New Layout, Agbarho Ughelli North LGA, and recovered the corpse of the little child whose head was smashed several times on the wall. The corpse was recovered and deposited at the mortuary. The father who is the principal suspect is currently at large.


The Commissioner of Police CP Olufemi Abaniwonda saddened by this barbaric act, has ordered a serious manhunt for the fleeing suspect and assures members of the public that the suspect will be arrested and justice will be served. He urged anyone with useful information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect to call the control room number on 0803684974 or report at the nearest police station.
