 FIRST IMPORTED EBOLA CASE: NIGERIA EVACUATES INDEX CASE TO SWITZERLAND AS CONTAINMENT MEASURES CONTINUE The Nigeria’s confirmed Ebola index case has been medically evacuated from Abuja to Switzerland, following approval by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate. The forty-two-year-old patient, whose case marked Nigeria’s first imported Ebola virus disease case, was transferred alongside her spouse, who has remained asymptomatic. In a statement posted on his X handle, Professor Pate said the patient was clinically much improved, stable, conscious and able to communicate, with laboratory test results approaching baseline levels. However, the Minister cautioned that the patient’s clinical improvement does not necessarily mean she is no longer infectious, stressing that strict public health protocols remain in place. ALLEGED WIRETAPPING: COURT REJECTS EL-RUFAI’S NO-CASE SUBMISSION, ORDERS HIM TO ENTER DEFENCE


A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to enter his defence, if he so desires, in his ongoing trial over the alleged unlawful interception of the telephone communications of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.


Justice Joyce Abdulmalik gave the order on Monday while ruling on El-Rufai’s no-case submission.


The judge dismissed the application, holding that the prosecution had presented sufficient evidence to warrant calling on the defendant to enter his defence.


The court adjourned the case until November 25 for the defence.
