 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.  POLICE ARREST MAN FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER



Operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) yesterday night arrested one suspect for using a hammer to inflict serious injury to the head of a 65 years old man around Pako Bus Stop, Iyana Ipaja.


The suspect, Sodiq Ishola, 29 years old, was arrested around 8:30 p.m Monday at Iyana Ipaja area after he was restrained and arrested from inflicting further injuries to the head of his victim (name withheld).


Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the suspect and one accomplice trailed the victim and his wife from Lagos Island on bike to Iyana Ipaja before Ishola descended on him.


He had inflicted severe injuries to the head of his victim before RRS operatives on patrol arrested him.


The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment while the suspect was transferred to RRS Headquaters in Alausa, Ikeja.


The Commander, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), CSP Yinka Egbeyemi  has directed that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) for further investigations.
