 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.  POST ANSEC BRIEFING OF THE 18TH ANAMBRA STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON THE 25TH OF JUNE, 2024 AT ANSEC CHAMBER, AWKA


Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) received two (2) strategic presentations today from external sources. First was a presentation on the framework for the establishment of the Anambra Development and Investment Corporation (ADIC). This was done by CardinalStone and Africa Finance Corporation (AFC). The presentation focused on a comprehensive framework for the transformation of the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA)  from just an investment agency to one that can begin and grow businesses; raise, manage and invest funds for Anambra State. 


The second presentation was on the blueprint for the development of the Anambra Mixed-use City (AMIC) prepared and presented by representatives from ARTELIA Consulting Engineering Ltd. The proposed location for this project is Orumba North LGA and the aim is to bring the Anambra Industrial ecosystem to an organized setting for accelerated industrial growth. It will be a Private Public Partnership that will see the government provide basic infrastructure for smooth takeoff. 


ANSEC also approved the following contracts for immediate execution:


-- Renovation of 1-storey classroom block and reconstruction of collapsed perimeter fence at Ado Girls' Secondary school, Onitsha for the sum of N48,248,732.26. The contract is awarded to Harriest Millennium Estate Nig. Ltd. 


-- Construction of additional pavilion at the ongoing Ekwulobia stadium complex for the sum of N603,521,409.95. This project will be handled by MO&C International Ltd. 


-- Construction of Internal Roads (Lots 2 & 3) at the new Government House, Awka for the sum of N840,171,708.64 and N941,484,648.61 respectively. This is awarded to Ferotex Construction Company. 


-- Supply of Medical Oxygen Accessories at the Anambra State Oxygen Production Plant for the sum of N50,548,968.75. This contract is awarded to Marigreg Nigeria Ltd.
