 Meta to end end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages Meta is ending end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages, a feature the company says will no longer be available after May 8, 2026. Unlike WhatsApp, Instagram never offered encryption to all users or as a default; only select users in certain regions could opt in on a per-chat basis. A Meta spokesperson explained that the decision comes due to low adoption. “Very few people were opting in to end-to-end encrypted messaging in DMs, so we’re removing this option from Instagram in the coming months,” the spokesperson said. “Anyone who wants to keep messaging with end-to-end encryption can easily do that on WhatsApp.” Meta’s messaging strategy has shifted multiple times over the years. WhatsApp chats have been encrypted since 2016, and the company began rolling out default encryption for Messenger in 2023.  Beyoncé introduces Team USA at 2024 Paris Olympics


American singer, Beyoncé made a surprise appearance during the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony broadcast on NBC Friday night, as she introduced several American athletes.

The ‘Drunk In Love’ hitmaker donned a red, white and blue ensemble, including a ‘USA’ leotard and a billowing cape, along with cowboy boots and a cowboy hat.

“Get a look at America, y’all,” Beyonce began, as her hit song ‘Ya Ya’ from her most recent album, ‘Cowboy Carter,’ played in the background.

“These hopes and dreams, these superstars that represent us. The people of this big, bold, beautiful, complicated nation. All rooting together for them.”

She shouted out a few members of the team — Simone Biles, Sha’Carri Richardson, Noah Lyles, Caeleb Dressel, and Katie Ledecky.

“That pride and that joy? That’s what gets me about this team. And that’s what makes me believe in this team. And that’s why I can’t wait to see what they pull off over these next 16 days. America, give it up for Team U.S.A., the very best of who we are. What a vision to behold. What a team to believe in. What a night to celebrate,” she added.
