 Sudan war: Hundreds of civilians displaced in latest South Kordofan's violence A total of 570 civilians were displaced from Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan, over a three-day period due to deteriorating security conditions, the UN International Organization for Migration (IOM) said. The organisation said in a statement that its tracking teams recorded the displacement of 570 people from Kadugli between 8 and 10 January, as insecurity escalated in the city. The displaced families headed toward areas in White Nile State, southern Sudan. The situation in Kadugli remains “tense and volatile,” the agency said, adding that its teams are continuing to closely monitor developments on the ground. Last week, IOM reported that the number of displaced people across Sudan’s three Kordofan states, North, West and South, had risen to 64,890 between 25 October and 30 December 2025.  Boko Haram Fighters Raid Borno Police Station, Gun Down Officers, Loot Armoury


Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have attacked Jakana Police station in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, killing a policeman and a woman, while carting away arms and ammunition.


According to security sources, the insurgents also set ablaze two patrol vehicles and a motorcycle.


Our correspondent gathered that the attackers, who took the security operatives by surprise, arrived at the police station around 1:00am and engaged in a gun duel with the officers until 3:00 am


“They overpowered them and gained access into the police station and looted arms and ammunition and destroyed 2 patrol vehicles.”


“One of the vehicles belong to the police and the other for the members of Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF)” a source said.


Chairman of Konduga Local government, Hon Abbas Ali Abari, confirmed the attack to journalists, promising to provide details as soon as he gets them.


Efforts to speak with the Police Public Relations Officer, Borno State command, Nahun Kenneth, failed as he did not respond to phone calls or text messages.


Jakana, which is situated along Damaturu -Maiduguri expressway, is about 45 kilometers away from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
