 NIGERIA IMPOSES 10-YEAR ENTRY BAN, $15 DAILY FINE FOR VISA OVERSTAYS Effective August 1, the Federal Government will impose strict penalties on visa overstays, including: - $15 daily fine starting from visa expiry date   - 5-year entry ban for overstays beyond 6 months   - 10-year ban for overstays beyond 1 year Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo announced the measures in Lagos while unveiling a new Expatriate Administration System aimed at tightening immigration control and improving data accuracy. Starting May 1, the ministry will also roll out: - Automated Landing/Exit Cards - Electronic Visa system - Expatriate Insurance & upgraded ID cards - Revised Expatriate Quota system Tunji-Ojo stressed the need for accurate data on foreigners, noting current figures fall short of reality.

 Ex-BBC presenter Edwards pleads guilty to indecent child images charge. Former BBC news anchor Huw Edwards, one of the most recognisable faces on UK television, pleaded guilty Wednesday to three counts of making indecent images of children..


The 62-year-old ā€” who resigned from the BBC in April on ā€œmedical adviceā€, six months after he was arrested ā€” faces a maximum prison sentence of 10 years and a minimum of 12 months..


Wearing a dark suit and blue tie, Edwards sat impassively during the 25-minute court hearing as he admitted receiving 41 indecent images of children on WhatsApp, including seven of the most serious type..


Under English law, electronic communications involving indecent imagery of children ā€” including receiving and downloading pictures and videos ā€” can constitute the offence of making indecent images of children..
