 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results.  Kenyan President Cancels First Lady’s Office Budget, Official Trips Amid Protests 

President William Ruto of Kenya has announced key austerity measures aimed at addressing public discontent and cutting government expenditure amid protests in the East African country.


Budgets allocated to the offices of the First Lady and Second Lady have been eliminated, while a ban was also placed on the purchase of new cars for government use.


President Ruto further dissolved 47 state agencies and suspended all non-essential travel for government workers.


The president also announced that the number of his advisers has been reduced by 50%.


The decisions come after three weeks of anti-government protests, which have seen citizens demand greater transparency, accountability, and better governance.


President Ruto’s actions are seen as a step towards addressing these concerns and demonstrating fiscal responsibility.
