 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  PROPOSED PROTEST: LAGOS NSCDC MEETS YOUTH GROUPS, OPINION LEADERS, IMPLORES CITIZENS TO EMBRACE DIALOGUE, SHUN VIOLENCE, VANDALISM, RADICALISM, EXTREMISM, ARSONING, LOOTING.



"No city or state can develop without a peaceful atmosphere, so, shelve your plans and embrace dialogue, appeal to your communities and let them know that the times we are in will end in celebration," Keshinro appeals to youth groups.


In line with the earlier directive of the Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, to the heads of all formations across the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to ensure the total protection of all critical national assets and infrastructure in the wake of the proposed planned protest, the Lagos State Command, in collaboration with other sister security agencies has taken both proactive non - kinetic and kinetic measures to ensure the total compliance of its personnel to the order.


The critical national assets and infrastructure to be protected during the wake of the proposed planned protest, by yet to be identified groups in the state, for emphasis include but not limited to the followings; oil and gas pipelines, power Installations, telecommunications' equipments, railway installations, waterways and resources, national archives, museums, stadia, health facilities and hospitals, markets, malls, edifices, parks, media houses, laboratories, schools et ce tera.


However, the State Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, in his bid to sensitize citizens, especially, the youths, on the need to sue for peace, patience, calm and collaboration with government through dialogue, at this critical time in the history of our dear nation, today, Friday, 26th July, 2024 appealed to a cross section of youth groups' executives and their members to ask their colleagues in various communities to shelve any form of protest plans that may lead to violence, vandalism, radicalism, extremism, arsoning, looting, robbery, burning, destructions, disruptions of peaceful co - existence and abuse of the rights of others et ce tera.


The youth groups such as Wedey4U, Youth Assembly of Nigeria, Coalition of Nigerian Youths on Security and Safety Affairs ( CONYSSA ), as well as a media organization known as Melody FM amongst other opinion leaders pledged their support, patriotism and loyalty to ensure that they stand on the side peace, dialogue, calm, patience and collaboration with the government of the day believing that the current situation will turnaround for the best within a  short time.


The Lagos State Commandant, while addressing and appealing to the various youth groups earlier today, Friday, said, "No city or state and nation can develop without a peaceful atmosphere, so, shelve your plans and embrace dialogue, appeal to your communities and let them know that the times we are in will end in celebration as there is no good war and no bad peace."
