 El-Rufai to remain in custody as court adjourns bail application to April 14 Justice Rilwanu Aikawa of a Federal High Court in Kaduna has adjourned the hearing of the bail application filed by former Kaduna State governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, to April 14th. The bail application of the former governor came up before the court today. April 1. The court adjourned the case after listening to arguments from both the defence and prosecution  El-Rufai was arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on a 10-count charge bordering on alleged conversion of public property and money laundering. He pleaded not guilty to all the charges. The court ordered that he remain in ICPC custody pending the hearing of his bail application on the fixed date. The former governor arrived at the court premises around 9:00 a.m. in a black Hilux vehicle, accompanied by DSS officials.

 Suspected Armed Robbers Kill Woman In Ekiti


There was panic in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital as gunmen suspected to be armed robbers shot dead a woman.


The incident which has raised concerns among residents of the state’s capital occured along NTA Road, Ado Ekiti around 7 am on Saturday.


The woman, whose identity is not yet ascertained, LEADERSHIP gathered, was killed by suspected armed robbers operating on motorcycle.


A source close to the area said, “The gunmen who were riding on motorcycle made attempt to forcefully dispossess the woman of her bag while standing by the road.


“The woman was said to have resisted the attempt and refused to surrender the her bag and others valuables to them.


“She was shot by her assailants who fled the scene immediately”.


People around scampered to safety while business owners and traders hurriedly closed their shops.


Recall that no fewer than four persons were killed in Ado Ekiti about two weeks ago with the State Police Command making some arrest in connections with heinous crimes.


Confirming the incident, the Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu said the killing was more of a robbery incident.


He disclosed that the sum of forty thousand, two hundred and eighty naira (N40,280) was found in the bag of the deceased woman.


Abutu said her body has been deposited in the morgue and the police have launched manhunt for the perpetrators.
