 A Mother's Day Nightmare in Princeton, Illinois. A 3-year-old boy was struck by gunfire as police burst into a barricaded room, ending a frightening hostage situation. Multiple agencies responded to the Hummingbird Mobile Home Park in Princeton, Illinois, on Sunday, May 10th at 2:42 a.m. The initial call went out as a domestic disturbance but officers discovered much worse.  42-year-old, Anthony Rodriguez, had barricaded himself in a room armed with a knife. Anthony had taken several people as hostages, including Aurora Almanza and her 3-year-old son.  Multiple agencies were on the scene, including the Bureau County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and  the Princeton Police Department.  Authorities attempted to negotiate but ultimately rushed the room when they heard screaming coming from inside.  Officials have reported that officers fired shots as they entered the room.  TROOPS THWART ISWAP TERRORISTS' ATTEMPT TO SABOTAGE ELECTRICITY INFRASTRUCTURE IN YOBE STATE 



Troops of Nigerian Army deployed for counter terrorism operations in Yobe State, in collaboration with local hunters' group have thwarted an attempt by ISWAP/ Boko Haram terrorists to destroy high tension electric pylons near Kasesa Village at the outskirts of Damaturu town. 


The troops, acting on credible intelligence, laid ambush for the terrorists and  intercepted  them while en route to the pylons in a suspicious vehicle. A fierce firefight ensued, as the troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abandon their vehicle and fled with gunshot wounds. Upon searching the vehicle, the troops discovered 8 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) with detonating cords, along with a trade test card belonging to one Emmanuel Adamu.


The quick and decisive action of the troops and hunters prevented a potential catastrophe and safeguarded the electricity infrastructure in the region. The successful operation is a clear pointer to the dedication and vigilance of the security forces in combating terrorism and ensuring the safety of the local communities in Yobe State.
