 Zambia parliament passes disputed bill to change election laws Zambia's parliament overwhelmingly passed on Monday a bill to modify constitutional provisions related to elections. The opposition claims it will bolster President Hakainde Hichilema at next year's polls, but the government rejects the assertions, with President Hichilema stating that the changes are proposed in good faith for the long-term benefits to the Zambian people. Opposition politicians, civil society and church groups had lobbied against Bill 7, saying it was rushed through parliament and will promote Hichilema and his UPND party at the August 2026 vote, AFP reported. The bill amends 13 articles in the constitution of the copper-rich Southern African nation, notably increasing the number of parliamentary seats from 156 to 226; reserving 35 seats for women, youth and disabled people; and ending a limit of two five-year terms for mayors. 66-YEAR-OLD MISSOURI MAN SELFLESSLY LOSES HIS LIFE SAVING CHILDREN STRUGGLING IN SMITHVILLE LAKE. (PHOTO).

 66-year-old Missouri man selflessly loses his life saving children struggling in Smithville Lake.


David Moore was enjoying a day on Smithville Lake with friends on a pontoon boat. The peacefulness of the day was interrupted when David noticed a 5-year-old and another individual, who were not wearing life vests, begin to struggle as they were being pulled away from their boat.


David who spent his life as a contractor showed zero hesitation as he plunged into the water to enact a rescue. David, who was not wearing a life vest, was able to recover both individuals and get them back to the boat.


However tragedy struck when the current suddenly began to pull David away. The shocked individuals who witnessed the entire ordeal say "David's head popped out of the water three times before submerging" to not be seen again.


Missouri State Police were able to recover David's body later that day.  They are urging everyone on the water this summer to wear a life vest. No matter how good of a swimmer you are; you never know what could happen. 


Our thoughts are with the family and friends of David Moore who made the ultimate sacrifice for others.
