 PRESIDENT TINUBU CONGRATULATES MINISTER OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS AMBASSADOR ENIKANOLAIYE ON HIS BIRTHDAY   President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, on his birthday.    A statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President, Information and Strategy, indicates that the President describes Ambassador Enikanolaiye as a distinguished diplomat, accomplished administrator and dedicated public servant whose career reflects professionalism, patriotism and a deep commitment to Nigeria.   Ambassador Enikanolaiye served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from August 1982 to August 2017, rising through the ranks to become Permanent Secretary. Akwa Ibom State mourns the death of Commissioner of Police Waheed Ayilara


Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara, has passed away, The Nation reports. Ayilara died in the early hours of Thursday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital in Ikeja. According to sources close to the family, Ayilara underwent prostate cancer surgery on Wednesday before his death occurred hours later. "We are very sad to inform you that our friend, brother, and family, the Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State, Waheed Ayilara, is dead," a family member was quoted as saying.


A top police officer in Akwa Ibom State, who chose to remain anonymous due to a lack of official authorization, confirmed Ayilara’s death. Efforts by newsmen to get a statement from Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, were unsuccessful, as calls to his phone went unanswered on Thursday morning.


Ayilara, who was appointed as the acting Commissioner of Police in Lagos in November 2023, had previously served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department. In February 2024, Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun assigned him to lead the Akwa Ibom State Command, succeeding AIG Idowu Owohunwa.
