 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. CRIME BULLETIN: RRS Makes Major Arrest and Recovers Stolen Property

...as CP MM Auwal Vows to Sustain Fight Against Crime


In an effort to stem the tight of crime and criminality in the early hours of Monday, August 26th, 2024, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Bauchi State Command, under the leadership of CSP Sani Mohammed in collaboration with yan committee, achieved a significant breakthrough by intercepting a tricycle carrying suspicious individuals in the Unguwan Jahun area of Bauchi metropolis. Despite the suspects attempting to flee, two of them were successfully apprehended at the scene: 


1. Aliyu A. Aliyu, also known as Jagaba, 24 years old

2. Abdulrahman Ibrahim, also known as Abdun Umma, 17 years old 

(both from the Jahun area of Bauchi metropolis)


Upon interrogation, the arrested suspects willingly confessed to their involvement in aiding armed robbery operations and admitted to being responsible for the theft of various valuable items from multiple homes.


The recovery of the following stolen items represents a significant achievement:


1. Five (5) laptops

2. Four (4) mobile phones

3. Five (5) power banks

4. One (1) router

5. Six (6) wristwatches

6. One (1) jambox

7. One (1) clipper


The Command is actively pursuing further investigations to apprehend the remaining members of the gang. Additionally, Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, psc, Anipr, applauded the efforts of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and assured the citizens of his unwavering commitment to combat criminal activities in the state.
