 El-Rufai to remain in custody as court adjourns bail application to April 14 Justice Rilwanu Aikawa of a Federal High Court in Kaduna has adjourned the hearing of the bail application filed by former Kaduna State governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, to April 14th. The bail application of the former governor came up before the court today. April 1. The court adjourned the case after listening to arguments from both the defence and prosecution  El-Rufai was arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on a 10-count charge bordering on alleged conversion of public property and money laundering. He pleaded not guilty to all the charges. The court ordered that he remain in ICPC custody pending the hearing of his bail application on the fixed date. The former governor arrived at the court premises around 9:00 a.m. in a black Hilux vehicle, accompanied by DSS officials.

 BENUE: GOV. ALIA SWEARS IN NEW BESIEC CHAIRMAN

The Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia PhD today swears in Barr. Richard Tombowua to replace Dr. John Chen, who was sacked earlier yesterday. 


During the swearing in, the Governor charged the new Chairman to imbibe high level of integrity as the entire Benue people are highly expectant for justice, fairness and equity, noting that he was confident of his ability and capacity to drive the commission to the right path.


Fr. Alia further thanked the Benue people for heeding to his voice by shunning the Nation wide protest, saying it was a clear indication of the love they have for him, his administration and that of the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed forces of the Federation, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR


In his acceptance speech, Barr. Tombowua appreciates the Governor for finding him worthy to serve in the capacity of BESIEC Chairman, while also promising to justify the confidence reposed in him.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive.
