 Easter: Nigerian Govt declares Friday, Monday as public holidays The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 18 and Monday, April 21 as public holidays to mark Good Friday and Easter Monday. This was disclosed in a statement by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Tuesday in Abuja. Announcing this on behalf of the Federal Government, the Minister extended heartfelt congratulations to Christians across the country on this joyous occasion. Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of embodying the virtues of the sacrifice and love displayed by Jesus Christ, having to die for the redemption of man. The minister urged Nigerians to use the holiday period to pray for the peace, unity, and stability of the nation. According to him, President Bola Tinubu was committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to strengthen national growth and development.  Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
