OVER 25 MILLION PHONES STOLEN IN ONE YEAR- FG. (PHOTO).

 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. FG STEPS UP EFFORTS TOWARDS  ACCELERATING  PRESIDENTIAL CNG INITIATIVE



In a bold move to drive economic growth and energy security in the country, the Federal Government has conveyed a high-level meeting with key stakeholders on Monday at the Federal Ministry of Finance Headquarters, Abuja to discuss accelerating the Presidential CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG) with the aim of providing affordable and sustainable energy solutions to Nigerians.


The Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, stated that the  initiative aims to provide affordable and sustainable energy alternatives to Nigerians, mitigating the economic impact of recent policy changes.


During the meeting,  HM Edun emphasized the importance of strategic approaches to expedite the implementation of the Pi-CNG. He stressed that effective planning and coordination are crucial to the initiative's success.


Attendees at the meeting included:


- Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu

- Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance, Mrs Lydia Shehu Jafiya 

- CEO of the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), Dr. Armstrong Ume Takang as well as the 

- Representatives from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS)


As the nation navigates recent policy changes, this high-level meeting marked a crucial step towards mitigating economic impact and paving the way for a brighter energy future. It also marks a significant step towards achieving the goals of the Presidential CNG Initiative
