 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.  Former Abia House of Assembly Member, Humphrey Azubike Dead


A former legislator and member that represented Ugwunagbo in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Humphrey Azubike is dead.


According to sources who spoke to newsmen, the former parliamentarian and businessman died Monday after complaining of illness.


The deceased was the APC House of Representatives Candidate in the 2019 General election for Osisioma/Obingwa/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency.


The former lawmaker was confirmed dead in Federal Medical Centre after attempts to resuscitate him failed in Living Word Hospital and Ugwunagbo Mother and Child General Hospital.


Meanwhile, Hon Munachim Alozie, member representing Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency, has reacted to the news of the sudden death of Hon Humphrey Azubuike who was reported dead this Monday.


Describing the news as devastating, Hon Alozie paid glowing tributes to his predecessor in the Abia State House of Assembly, saying that the death of Hon Azubuike is an irreparable loss, not just to Ugwunagbo, which he represented in the Abia State House of Assembly, but also to the entire Abia State.


Hon Alozie prayed to the Almighty God to grant the immediate family of the deceased and the entire Ugwunagbo Local Government Area the fortitude to bear the loss of their illustrious son.
