 President Trump awarded inaugural FIFA Peace Prize at World Cup draw in Washington  Gianni Infantino, the FIFA President presented the honour onstage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, saying Trump had been selected “in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world”. “This is your prize, this is your peace prize,” Infantino said, after Trump took the stage to accept the trophy, a medal and certificate. “There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.”   FIFA says the prize is for “individuals who help unite people in peace through unwavering commitment and special actions”.  Accepting the award, Trump called it “one of the great honours of my life”, before claiming to have “saved millions and millions of lives – the Congo is an example, over 10 million people killed and it was heading for another 10 million very quickly.  *Soludo Inaugurates Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission*

Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, has on Tuesday, August 6, inaugurated the chairman and members of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC).


The chairman of the Commission is Magistrate Chinelo Genevieve Osakwe while the members are as follows: Mrs. Bernadine Obande (FCA), Barrister Osita Cyril Igbokwe, Sir Chinedu Anthony Nnalue, Mrs. Helen Ifeyinwa Umeh, and Mr. John Emeka Okeke.


The Commission is tasked with setting the date for local government elections and overseeing the organization and conduct of peaceful and transparent local government polls in Anambra State.


While inaugurating the Commission, Governor Soludo stated that the 1999 Nigerian Constitution as well as the Anambra State Electoral Law has explicitly mandated ANSIEC to conduct the local government elections in a transparent and independent manner.


Governor Soludo charged the members of ANSIEC to serve with honour and integrity in an exemplary way that will highlight the Anambra ethos as “The Light of the Nation”.


The chairman of ANSIEC, Magistrate Chinelo Genevieve Osakwe assured Governor Soludo that her team is a formidable team that will wade through the storm and offer the enlightened people of Anambra State diligent and transparent service based on their antecedents.
