 Kwara Govt donates 150 off-road motorcycles to Nigerian Army •LGAs acquire 320 motorcycles to boost vigilantes' security operations  In a bid to further strengthen security operations and maintain peace across Kwara State, His Excellency Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led Kwara State Government has donated 150 off-road motorcycles to the Nigerian Army. The motorcycles are expected to enhance troops' mobility and effectiveness, particularly in rugged terrains such as forests, where non-state actors may be hiding with intent to destabilise the peaceful atmosphere of the state. Israeli strikes hit Lebanon as mediators push Gaza truce


Israeli airstrikes targeted Lebanon and Gaza on Saturday, resulting in significant casualties, as U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken returned to Israel in an effort to finalize a Gaza truce agreement. Diplomats believe that reaching such an agreement could prevent a broader regional conflict.


In Lebanon, an Israeli airstrike in the southern region claimed the lives of 10 people, including a Syrian woman and her two children, according to a statement from Lebanon’s health ministry. The ministry described the strike as one of the deadliest in southern Lebanon since the near-daily clashes between Israel and Hezbollah began following the outbreak of the Gaza conflict in October.


Israel’s military confirmed the strike, stating that it targeted a Hezbollah weapons storage facility in southern Lebanon. A spokesperson for the Israeli Defense Forces said, “We carried out an operation against a Hezbollah weapons depot in response to ongoing threats from the group.” The escalating violence has intensified concerns about a potential wider regional escalation.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
