 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.  KESHINRO, VICE CHAIRMAN, COUNCIL MANAGER, SLG AND OTHER EXECUTIVES OF OJOKORO LCDA LAY FOUNDATION OF NEW NSCDC DIVISIONAL OFFICE.



The Executive Chairman, Ojokoro Local Council Development Area ( LCDA ), Honourable Hammed Idowu Daniel ( HID ) Tijani has commenced, the building of a new divisional office for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), situated, in Ajegunle - Ilo, Lagos .


The ground breaking ceremony of the new divisional office was held today, Friday, 16th August, 2024, at Ajegunle - Ilo and was witnessed, by the Lagos  State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, ably represented, by Deputy Commandant of Corps Jimoh Sulaiman, Head of Administration, the Vice Chairman of the Council, Honourable Oladipupo Coker, the Council Manager, Mr Adeyemi Adegbola, the Secretary to the Local Government, Comrade Omisore Kola, Architect Makinde Sunday, Legal Officer, Barrister Abel Bello, Council Engineer, the Peace and Security Officer, Mrs Banks Moriliat and many other very distinguished executives of the Council.


The Executive Chairman of the aforementioned, LCDA, Honourable HID Tijani, ably represented, by his Vice Chairman, Honourable Coker Oladipupo affirmed that the relocation of the NSCDC divisional office in Ojokoro to a new place was also to aimed at giving the Corps its deserving place in the environment as well as to  empower and boost productivity, effectiveness and efficiency in the pursuit of its statutory mandate of protection of critical national assets and infrastructure and many more in the state.


The Council Manager, Mr Adeyemi Adegbola also lended his voice to the new development in the Council Area. He said that the Council under the able watch of the Honourable Executive Chairman and his forward thinking and progressive Executives, prioritize the security of lives and property as well as the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure in their Area and as such they have been very magnanimous to every security agencies, including the NSCDC, in the LCDA.


The State Commandant, NSCDC Lagos State Command, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, ably represented, at the ground breaking ceremony promised to ensure an enhanced pursuit of the safety, security, and protection of critical national assets and infrastructure of the people of Ojokoro and the entire state, in a more robust way, following the impeccable gesture by the LCDA. He said that to whom much is given much is expected.


The new Ojokoro divisional office complex of the NSCDC amongst other things will house offices, store, counter, conveniences, investigation room and many more just to mention a few and it will be completed within eight ( 8 ) weeks as stated, by the Council Engineer, Architect Makinde Sunday.


The Divisional Officer, Ojokoro, LCDA, Superintendent of Corps Victor Adekunle Oluokun, expressed, his joy and that of his officers and men to the Executive Chairman of the LCDA and all the distinguished Executive Members of the Council, for prioritizing security and safety in their administration amidst many other laudable achievements traceable to their credit in the Council Area. He affirmed that without any iota of doubt, this unprecedented gesture in the history of NSCDC, in Ojokoro LCDA has unequivocally, boosted the morale of is staff and him to do more in terms of de-escalating criminality in the environment and he promised to give his best with his team in the coming days .


The Divisional Officer, Superintendent of Corps Victor Oluokun, openly, said that they couldn't have also achieved the feat alone except for the uncommon support he received from the Executive Chairman and other Cabinet members and Staff of the Council Area, the State Commandant and officers and men of his division, who also have been working tirelessly, with him to ensure that the good people of Ojokoro sleep with their two eyes closed, without any fear of intimidation or harassment.
