 Seven dead as truck crashes into vehicles on Lagos-Ibadan expressway The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has said seven persons lost their lives while four others were injured when a truck lost control and crashed into two other vehicles along the Lagos/ Ibadan expressway on Saturday morning Ogun State Sector’s Route Commander and Chief Public Education Officer of the FRSC, Florence Okupe, confirmed the ghastly accident in a statement in Abeokuta, the state capital. According to the statement, a total of 15 people comprising 13 male adults and two females were involved in the accident. The statement indicated that those injured were three male adults and one female adult while the six male adults and one female adults lost their lives.  NDLEA Proposes Mandatory Drug Tests For Varsity Admissions 


The Commandant of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kwara State, Hajia Fatima Abiola-Popoola, has proposed that newly admitted university students should be made to undergo mandatory drug tests as part of their admission process.


She explained that this would “Serve as a preventive measure while offering early intervention and counselling for those already using drugs to prevent them from becoming problematic users”.


Hajia Abiola-Popoola made the suggestion during a radio programme in Ilorin.


The NDLEA boss further expressed concern over the rising number of drug users in the country.


She said: “A 2018 survey shows that 14.3 million people were using drugs in Nigeria. One out of 7 persons in Nigeria is a drug user and one out of 4 drug users is a woman.


“This shows that the society is in trouble because a woman is the administrator of the home.”

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
