Freddie Jackson, R&B Legend Behind “You Are My Lady” and “Rock Me Tonight,” Dies at 70 R&B has lost one of its most unmistakable voices. Freddie Jackson, the singer whose smooth delivery helped define romantic R&B during the 1980s and gave generations of listeners songs including “You Are My Lady,” “Rock Me Tonight (For Old Times Sake)” and “Have You Ever Loved Somebody,” has died. He was 70. Jackson’s death was announced Tuesday, October 6, through his verified Instagram account. According to the memorial shared by his family and team, the singer died Monday night, October 5. The announcement did not disclose a cause of death. “It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Freddie Jackson,” the statement read, describing the singer as a generous soul who loved his fans, family, friends and music.  Nwabali signs contract extension at Chippa United, named new captain


South African Premier Soccer League club, Chippa United on Thursday announced goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has signed a contract extension.


Nwabali, according to the Chilli Boys, put pen to paper on a three-year contract.


Chippa United also announced that the shot-stopper will be their new captain.


“We are pleased to announce that Stanley Nwabali has signed an improved three-year contract with Chippa United FC,” reads a statement on the club’s official website.


“We are incredibly proud of Stanley’s dedication and commitment to the club. His leadership on and off the field has been exemplary, and we believe he is the right person to guide our team through the challenges ahead. With this being said Stanley will be our new team captain for the upcoming season. ”


The goaltender joined Chippa United from Nigeria Premier Football League side, Katsina United in 2022.


The 28-year-old quickly established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.


Nwabali caught the eye with his impressive performance for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
