 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.  Nwabali signs contract extension at Chippa United, named new captain


South African Premier Soccer League club, Chippa United on Thursday announced goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has signed a contract extension.


Nwabali, according to the Chilli Boys, put pen to paper on a three-year contract.


Chippa United also announced that the shot-stopper will be their new captain.


“We are pleased to announce that Stanley Nwabali has signed an improved three-year contract with Chippa United FC,” reads a statement on the club’s official website.


“We are incredibly proud of Stanley’s dedication and commitment to the club. His leadership on and off the field has been exemplary, and we believe he is the right person to guide our team through the challenges ahead. With this being said Stanley will be our new team captain for the upcoming season. ”


The goaltender joined Chippa United from Nigeria Premier Football League side, Katsina United in 2022.


The 28-year-old quickly established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.


Nwabali caught the eye with his impressive performance for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
