 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms. A man claiming to be from South Africa has released a video calling for a ceasefire from Nigerians after an online spat between both countries split into reality.

Recall that last week, South Africans started an economic sabotage of sorts by ordering Uber from Nigeria and sending the drivers to addresses in Nigeria. 

Nigerians living in Nigeria retaliated and brought businesses in South Africa to a halt after ordering for online services in South Africa from the comfort of their homes in Nigeria and giving the addresses of random South African homes as the pick-up location.

In a video going viral on TikTok, a man is seen saying he's speaking on behalf of South Africans. He begged Nigerians to stop the economic sabotage, adding that a lot of businesses have been damaged as a result.
