 In a first for Indian Railways, an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) has been successfully tested inside a train coach.  The trial took place on Tuesday inside an air-conditioned coach of the Panchavati Express, which runs daily between Manmad in Nashik and Mumbai. This ATM facility is part of a joint effort by the Bhusawal division of Indian Railways and the Bank of Maharashtra. The ATM worked smoothly during the journey, with only minor interruptions when the train passed through the no-network zone between Igatpuri and Kasara, an area known for its tunnels. Despite the short signal losses, the ATM continued to function well and served its purpose. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared a video of the ATM on social media, calling it the first of its kind in India. This unique idea came from a meeting under the Innovative and Non-Fare Revenue Ideas Scheme (INFRIS) by the Bhusawal division.  U.S. Embassy in Nigeria moves to new visa services provider


The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos have transitioned to a new visa services provider.

The decision was announced through the Embassy’s official website.

It was earlier disclosed that for those with non-immigrant visa interviews scheduled on or before August 16, 2024, no additional action is required; and that individuals can continue to access their accounts at ustraveldocs.com to view appointment details and contact customer service as needed.

For interviews scheduled on or after August 26, 2024, applicants will need to use the new visa services website, which is already active. 

The new site will also handle fee payments, appointment scheduling, and customer services.

On its verified ‘X’ handle (formerly Twitter) @USinNigeria, it said: “Important Visa Services Update!

“We have moved to a new visa services provider! You can now schedule interview appointments on the new website”

The official website – www.usvisaappt.com/ said: “This newly enhanced site is the official U.S. website where you can create your account, pay your visa application fee, and schedule your U.S. visa appointment online. Information services for U.S. visa applicants and American Citizens are also available now to support you.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
