Two Brothers Arrested for Murder After Demanding Ransom in Batcham, West Region

Two brothers, Ndamené Kenné Derrick, also known as Arafat, and Noubissi Tiodong Hyppolite, both 22 years old, have been arrested by Batcham Gendarmerie for allegedly killing 58-year-old father of 8, Mr. Noutsa Maurice, on Monday, September 9, 2024, in Bamefouock, West Cameroon.

Reports say the suspects entered Mr. Noutsa's home, held him hostage, and demanded a 3 million CFA ransom from his daughter. Although the ransom was paid, Mr. Noutsa was found dead when his daughter returned with security officers. The suspects later threatened to harm more family members if they were pursued.

The suspects were tracked down using phone details from the ransom exchange. According to the Batcham gendarmerie, this wasn’t their first crime, as they had previously been imprisoned for killing their uncle. The brothers now face prosecution.
