 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.  Dangote Donates ₦‎1.5 Billion To Borno Flood Victims


President of Aliko Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has donated N1.5 billion to victims of the Maiduguri flood disaster.


He made the announcement during an assessment visit to some of the affected locations in Maiduguri.Accompanied by Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state, Dangote said out the amount, N1 billion was given to National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to work with the Borno State government.


“I just want to clarify, we have this flood committee. NEMA wrote us a letter; so we sat down and approved N1 billion to NEMA to work with the Borno State government. On top of that, the Aliko Dangote Foundation will put additional N500 millions so that’s #1.5 billion. Thank you,” he said.


Earlier, Gov Sule also announced the donation of unspecified number of trucks of relief materials to support the Borno state government.


Responding, Governor Babagana Zulum praised them for generosity and love towards the people of Borno.


“Not everyone that has money has the heart of giving, Aliko Dangote has been helping our people, this is not first time. I pray that Allah will reward you with Aljannah.”
