 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  Edo Decides 2024: Labour Party’s Akpata loses polling unit


The Labour Party gubernatorial candidate, Olumide Akpata, has been defeated in his polling unit.

DAILY POST reported that Akpata alongside the candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress are the leading contenders of the Edo State number one sit.

The PDP candidate scored 41 votes to beat his closest challenger, Akpata who scored 31 votes in his own PU.

The APC recorded 19 votes.

PDP: 41

LP: 32

APC: 19

Upon casting his vote, Akpata had described his voting experience as “seamless”.

He, however, said that his wish is that every other voter in the state will have the same seamless experience as he did.
