 NERC ORDERS 3 MONTHS FREE POWER SUPPLY TO ELECTRICITY CUSTOMERS OVER WRONGFUL DISCONNECTION BY DISCOs The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC has ordered that henceforth electricity consumers wrongfully disconnected by Distribution Companies will now be compensated with energy credits equivalent to their average consumption for three months for every day they remain without electricity. The Commission also orders that faulty electricity meters must be repaired or replaced within 48 hours of being reported as it warns DisCos against charging reconnection fees when customers are disconnected without following prescribed procedures. The directives are part of strategies to improve consumer awareness and enforce compliance with regulations in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry NERC says the measures are designed to protect consumers and provide guidance on resolving disputes with electricity distribution companies.  Edo Decides 2024: Labour Party’s Akpata loses polling unit


The Labour Party gubernatorial candidate, Olumide Akpata, has been defeated in his polling unit.

DAILY POST reported that Akpata alongside the candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress are the leading contenders of the Edo State number one sit.

The PDP candidate scored 41 votes to beat his closest challenger, Akpata who scored 31 votes in his own PU.

The APC recorded 19 votes.

PDP: 41

LP: 32

APC: 19

Upon casting his vote, Akpata had described his voting experience as “seamless”.

He, however, said that his wish is that every other voter in the state will have the same seamless experience as he did.
