Ex-Mistress Filmed Italy's Culture Minister With Hidden Camera In Her Glasses, All Hell Breaks Loose After Their Breakup

The phrase "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" has never felt more fitting than in Italy today, where a political scandal is unfolding. The former mistress of Gennaro Sangiuliano, the country's Minister of Culture, has revealed that she secretly recorded their private encounters using a hidden camera.

A tearful Sangiuliano, 62, publicly confessed to having an affair with Maria Rosaria Boccia, a 41-year-old fashion influencer and economist. The affair reportedly began in May this year after the two met at a party in Naples. Their relationship, however, ended abruptly between late July and early August, leaving a trail of controversy in its wake.

Boccia , a highly educated woman with two degrees in economics said ,she had worn a pair of Ray-Ban Stories, smart glasses equipped with a tiny camera and microphone.

She used them to film herself walking through the corridors of the lower house of parliament, insisting: "There’s nothing illegal about it."

The Italian culture minister, has begged for forgiveness after the secret "spy glasses" recordings revealed the illicit affair.

Appearing on prime time national television,Sangiuliano admitted to having an affair with the fashion influencer.

The embattled MP apologised to his wife Federica Corsini, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, for having an affair with a younger female "colleague".

He tearfully said: "The first person I have to apologise to, who is an exceptional person, is my wife."

He also claimed that the Italian PM had rejected his resignation letter.

The illicit affair came to light after Boccia, 41, announced on LinkedIn that she had been appointed as the “adviser to the minister for major events."

However, Sangiuliano denied that he had nominated her for the role.

Instead, he said he had initially offered Boccia as consultancy role but then changed his mind after being told that it would present a conflict of interest because of their relationship.

The scorned lover then began posting the footage on social media, causing fears of a national security breach.

Despite the potential security breach, Sangiualiano said Boccia was not privy to any the security details.

He said: "She didn’t have access to classified or confidential documents."

However, Boccia took to social media site Instagram to prove she had been involved in meetings, site events and consultations.

She has also accused her former lover of misusing public funds to pay for her trips, a claim Sangiuliano strongly denies.

He admitted attending events with Boccia but said he had paid for everything himself with his credit card.

The married minister, met Ms Boccia, a former men’s fashion retailer from Pompeii, at a political rally a year ago.

Meloni has not officially commented on the scandal, though said during a meeting on Wednesday: 'We are making history, and we all need to be aware of it. This does not allow for breaks and pauses, and much less for errors and false steps.'

Her government has been hit by a series of scandals this year, with her tourism minister Daniela Santanchè being investigated for alleged fraud and false accounting.

Meloni herself was forced to dump her long-term partner, the father of her daughter, after he was caught making lewd remarks to his female colleagues at the TV station he worked at.
