Mali renames colonial French street names Mali followed Burkina Faso and Niger on Wednesday in renaming streets and squares in its capital to get rid of their French colonial names, AFP reported. Streets bearing the names of members of France's colonial administration have been rebaptised in Bamako, according to a decree by the junta chief. Cedeao Avenue (the French acronym for the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS) is also now named after a new strategic confederation that Mali has formed with Burkina Faso and Niger – the Alliance of Sahel States (AES). In all, nearly 25 names have been replaced, among them boulevards, streets, squares and public establishments. Niger and Burkina Faso have already made several changes to street and monument names in the last two years. In October, Niger renamed several historic sites in its capital Niamey which previously bore references to old colonial master France.  He Looks, Moves Like A Woman – Prison  Officials On Why Bobrisky Was Kept Apart From Other Inmates

Why Bobrisky Was Separated From Other Inmates – Prison Experts

The controversy surrounding crossdresser Bobrisky’s incarceration has taken a new turn as prison experts reveal the reasons behind his separation from fellow inmates.

Contrary to claims of a VIP section, officials explain that Bobrisky’s unique situation necessitated protective custody.

According to Bishop Kayode Williams, Director General of the Prison Rehabilitation Mission, accommodations are provided based on inmate categories.

“There are separate facilities for condemned prisoners, convicted inmates, and those requiring special protection,” Williams explained. He said that Bobrisky’s appearance and behaviour posed a risk.

“He looks like a woman, moves like a woman, and there are homosexual inmates who might take advantage,” Williams stated.

Former National PRO of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Francis Enobore, confirmed this. The controversy surrounding crossdresser Bobrisky’s incarceration has taken a new turn as prison experts reveal the reasons behind his separation from fellow inmates.

Former National PRO of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Francis Enobore, confirmed this.

“Yes, he confessed in court that he is a man, but he came in bodily showing that he is a woman,” Enobore said.

Enobore explained that Bobrisky’s appearance, despite identifying as male, raised concerns. “There is no doubt that if care is not taken, we will have a very serious security situation on our hands,” he added. However, Enobore denied claims of Bobrisky receiving special treatment or a private apartment.

However, Enobore refuted claims of Bobrisky being given a private section, stating, “There’s no such thing as a private apartment or anything special in the prison.”

Recall that earlier in the week Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan, shared a voice note allegedly from Bobrisky.

In the voice note, Bobrisky claimed that his godfather and the Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service arranged for him to serve his six-month sentence in a private apartment.

The disclosure has led to the suspension of several prison officials by the federal government.
