 APC PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN COUNCIL PRESS STATEMENT ATIKU MUST EXPLAIN THE LEGAL AND FISCAL BASIS OF HIS PETROL SUBSIDY PROPOSAL At his press conference in Abuja on Friday, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar reiterated his proposed  “production subsidy” for locally refined petrol, which he said would reduce pump prices. He went further to ask President Bola Tinubu to slash the cost of diesel and petrol at the pump. That proposal raises important legal, fiscal and practical questions that he must answer. Section 205(1) of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021 provides that unrestricted free-market conditions shall determine wholesale and retail prices of petroleum products. The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, in a statement on Saturday, explained that it neither fixes pump prices nor issues administrative price templates, except where the statutory conditions for intervention are met. Tonto Dikeh has taken a dig at her ex-husband, Olakunle Churchill, as she shared the advice she gave to her fellow single mother.


The single mother had privately reached out to her, questioning how she was able to cope when her ex left her and their son. She questioned what advice the movie star had for her as she described herself as a nobody aiming to be somebody soon.


“Good morning ma, please ma, I have a question. How were u able to cope when u and ur ex-husband left u with your child? If there is any advice am ready to learn. I am a nobody aiming to be somebody soon”.


Replying to her, Tonto corrected her that she was the one who left the marriage for her and her son’s sake and it was the best decision she made. She told the woman that she has the power to become the person she aspires to be as long as she commits to growth and invests in herself.
