 NPFL Fines Nasarawa United N6m, Banishes Team to Gombe After Fan Attack on Player The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed a N6 million fine on Nasarawa United for failing to provide adequate security during their matchday 33 clash against Plateau United, which ended in a 3-2 victory for the hosts. The NPFL also ordered the Solid Miners to play their remaining home matches this season at Pantami Stadium in Gombe, following an incident where Plateau United forward Vincent Temitope was attacked by a home supporter. Nasarawa United has been directed to identify the culprit responsible for causing bodily harm to Temitope and provide evidence of their legal prosecution. Additionally, the club must implement effective matchday security and crowd control measures and submit a plan to the NPFL board before they can return to Lafia City Stadium in future seasons. The Lafia-based club has 48 hours from the date of the notice to appeal the sanctions.

 IMSU lecturers begin indefinite strike over delayed benefits


The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Imo State University chapter, on Friday, embarked on an indefinite strike to press home their demands.


In a release signed by its Chairperson, Comrade Odinakachukwu Ejiogu and secretary, Comrade Lazarus Chikwendu, ASUU-IMSU stated, ā€œWe are embarking on total and comprehensive indefinite strike effective Friday, 20th September. The decision stems from several unresolved issues persisting for years.ā€


ā€œWe demand end to promotion without financial benefits since 2016, ASUU-IMSU staff salary disparity with other tertiary institutions, undue delay in staff assessment and promotion, selective salary payment and non-payment of arrears of salariesā€.


Other demands of ASUU-IMSU according to the letter included, ā€œNon-payment of earned academic allowance since 2009, non remittance of Union check off/welfare dues from 2020-2021, non remittance of pension deduction from May 2016 to date, non-payment of annual increment in salaries, inclusion of IMSU into Treasury Single Account, funding of the University and erosion of the University autonomy.ā€
