 In a groundbreaking move blending technology and finance, China has installed a smart gold ATM in a Shanghai mall that melts, evaluates, and transfers the value of gold directly to a user’s bank account—all within 30 minutes and without any paperwork. The machine, operated by China’s Kinghood Group, has become a sensation, drawing long queues of people eager to sell their old or generational gold. The ATM is designed to accept gold items weighing over three grams with at least 50% purity. Once inserted, the machine melts the gold, assesses its quality and weight, and then credits the money directly to the user’s account. The system has gained massive popularity, and appointments are now fully booked until May, according to Chinatimes.com. During a demonstration, a 40-gram gold necklace was valued at 785 yuan (around ₹9,200) per gram, resulting in a payout of over 36,000 yuan (about ₹4.2 lakh).  Isaac Bristol ‘PIDOM’ granted bail


Bristol Issac Tamunobifiri, popularly known by his X name PIDOM Nigeria, has been granted bail.

PIDOM was arraigned on Friday, September 27, on a nine-count charge filed against him by the Inspector-General of Police at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

A few weeks ago, Justice Emeka Nwite, the judge presiding over the arraignment of Bristol, denied him bail.

Recall police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi had said PIDOM “illegally” accessed restricted data and posted directives from the office of the IGP.

The police spokesperson also claimed that the defendant raised funds to sponsor cyberterrorism.

Adejobi said PIDOM was apprehended in connection with “criminal conspiracy, offences against the Official Secrets Act, leakage of classified restricted documents, acts likely to cause a breach of the public peace, sedition, fraud, and tax evasion”.

In an update on Friday, September 27, rights activist and convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore, tweeted: “Isaac Bristol granted Bail!  @PIDOMNIGERIA #FREEPIDOMNIGERIANOW”

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
