MALI RENAMES COLONIAL FRENCH STREET NAMES. (PHOTO).

 Mali renames colonial French street names Mali followed Burkina Faso and Niger on Wednesday in renaming streets and squares in its capital to get rid of their French colonial names, AFP reported. Streets bearing the names of members of France's colonial administration have been rebaptised in Bamako, according to a decree by the junta chief. Cedeao Avenue (the French acronym for the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS) is also now named after a new strategic confederation that Mali has formed with Burkina Faso and Niger – the Alliance of Sahel States (AES). In all, nearly 25 names have been replaced, among them boulevards, streets, squares and public establishments. Niger and Burkina Faso have already made several changes to street and monument names in the last two years. In October, Niger renamed several historic sites in its capital Niamey which previously bore references to old colonial master France. LAGOS RELEASES 2024 BECE RESULTS. (PHOTO). #PRESS RELEASE.


 The Lagos State Government has released the results of the Year 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).


A statement signed by the Director of Lagos State Examinations Board, Mr. Adebayo Orunsolu informed both Public and Approved Private Junior Secondary Schools in the State that the Year 2024 BECE Results have been released The statement urged authorities concerned to visit the Board’s Portal: https://examsboard.lagosstate.gov.ng using their schools’ default or existing Usernames and Passwords provided during the registration of their students to enable them to print out their Schools’ results with effect from Monday, 23rd September, 2024.


Mr. Orunsolu pointed out that all concerned schools in the State are allowed to have direct access to their results online to eliminate the burden and stress associated with coming to the Board for the physical collection of the results.

The Director added that the initiative would also eliminate the delay usually associated with getting the results in good time.


He further revealed that the date for the conduct of the BECE Resit Examination for students who failed English Studies or Mathematics or both would be duly communicated to all affected schools in due course.


Mr. Orunsolu commended all stakeholders for their cooperation and for being part of the success story of the new policy of the Board.
