Niger Junta Investigates Former President Bazoum for Treason

The military leadership in Niger has started an investigation into former President Mohamed Bazoum, who has been held for over a year since the coup.

The investigation is looking into claims that Bazoum worked with foreign nations and had connections to terrorist groups in the Sahel region. Reports suggest he may have attempted to flee the country, which the junta views as an effort to create instability.

Additionally, Burkina Faso's leader, Capt. Ibrahim Traore, accused Bazoum of asking Burkina Faso to stop fighting certain terrorist groups and even give them space to operate.
