 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results.  Police, Military launch joint operation against kidnapping in Imo


The Imo State Police Command, in a joint security operation with the military, has launched a specialized squad to smash and dismantle kidnapping, armed robbery and other violent criminal syndicates in the state.


A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer,(PPRO), ASP Henry Okoye disclosed that the joint effort underscores the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of communities in the state.


He said the operation will leverage the combined expertise and resources of both agencies to bring those responsible for the criminal activities to justice.


According to him, there were recent reports of increased kidnapping incidents in those areas which have raised significant concern among residents and students.


Okoye maintained that in responding to the development that the State Police Command has deployed a team of highly trained personnel to conduct focused operations aimed at neutralizing the threat posed by the criminal elements.


“Our objective is to enhance the peace and security of the State and to guarantee that educational institutions, including FUTO, remain safe environments for learning,” he stated.
