 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.  Reduce fuel price, Nigerians are hungry, Kukah tells APC


Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Mathew Hassan Kukah, has asked leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to reduce the current pump price of fuel, saying Nigerians are hungry.


He spoke on Friday in Abuja, during the official unveiling of The Progressive Institute (TPI).


Recall that the pump price of petrol per litre in the country was on Tuesday increased to N855, N918 or higher depending on locations.


But delivering his goodwill message during the APC event, Kukah said, “We Nigerians are hungry. Find a way of reducing the price of fuel.


“Unless democracy is anchored on sound foundation, we will be building on sand. I am concerned about the quality of democracy in Nigeria. We need to fix the problem with democracy in Nigeria.”


APC leaders at the event which is ongoing at the Abuja Continental Hotel, are the APC national chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje; President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio represented by the deputy Senate president, Senator Barau I. Jibrin; and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.


Others are Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) and Imo State governor, Hope Uzodinma; Ondo State governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa; ministers; APC states Chairmen and many others.
