 A popular content creator has died from surgery complication     Esther Thomas, popularly known as Sunshine, was a Nigerian content creator, skit maker, and brand influencer. She died on Friday, 9 January 2026, after complications from fibroid surgery. She had been complaining of serious stomach pain from late December 2025.     Sunshine was first admitted at Orchid General Hospital in Lagos, where her friends said she was only given pain relief drugs because doctors were on strike. Her condition did not improve, so she was moved to another hospital on 2 January 2026, where tests showed she had a large fibroid and surgery was carried out. She later developed complications and died. After her death, friends blamed Orchid General Hospital online, saying she was neglected and did not receive proper treatment early enough.  Fatal Crash on D2945 Road Claims Five Lives


A devastating car accident occurred on Sunday morning around 03:00 on D2945 Road between Mgobobodzi and Madadeni, resulting in the loss of five lives. The sedan carrying the victims overturned, causing a fire that left the occupants burnt beyond recognition.


One person survived the crash and is receiving critical care at a hospital. The cause of the accident is currently unknown, and an investigation is underway.


Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security, and Liaison, Mr. Jackie Macie, has urged motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads to reduce fatalities and injuries.


"We must all respect road rules and drive with greater caution and consideration. By doing so, we can spare more lives and prevent tragedies that devastate families and communities. Let us use the roads safely and adjust our driving according to prevailing conditions," Macie said.


He also wished the critically injured victim a speedy recovery.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive.
