Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive.  SCREENING EXAMINATION FOR ENTRY INTO GOVERNMENT SCIENCE AND TECHNICAL COLLEGES HOLDS TOMORROW


The screening examination for admission into seven Government Science and Technical Colleges, as well as one Government Technical and Vocational College for the 2024/2025 academic session, will take place tomorrow, Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Government Technical College, Idi-Aba, starting at 8:00 AM. The programme is a 3-year course leading to the award of the National Technical Certificate (NTC) or National Business Certificate (NBC).


In a statement signed by the Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, it was noted that the examination is open to candidates who have completed their registration through the Ogun State Education Revitalisation Agenda (OGSERA).


Candidates are required to have either a Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), National Examination Council Senior School Certificate Examination (NECOSSCE), or equivalent qualifications.


The statement also instructed candidates to bring the printout of their registration forms, photocopies of their credentials, and writing materials for the smooth conduct of the exercise. It assured that all necessary arrangements have been made for a successful screening.


Candidates are urged to behave properly during the examination, with best wishes for a successful outcome.
