Anambra's IGR Increases by Over 100% in One Year Anambra State has seen a significant surge in its monthly Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), growing from ₦2.2 billion to ₦5.2 billion over the past year—an impressive increase of more than 100%. This achievement was shared by Amara Oyeka, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on IGR, during the presentation and validation of a study conducted across 21 major markets in the state’s three senatorial zones. The research was part of the Tax for Service Project, implemented by the Tax Justice and Governance Platform (TJ&GP) in partnership with the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and supported by Oxfam Nigeria. Despite the growth, Oyeka pointed out significant challenges.  Shehu Sani's Supporters Dump PDP For APC In Kaduna

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, has faced setback as thousands of supporters of former Senator Shehu Sani defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defection of Shehu Sani's supporters comes at a time when the PDP held its state congress last Saturday in Kaduna.

The PDP defectors were welcomed at the APC office, displaying pictures of President Bola Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, and Shehu Sani, while singing unity songs.

Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the Nigerian Senate from 2015 to 2019, was a gubernatorial candidate under the PDP in the 2023 election but lost in the primaries.

The defecting supporters, who hail from the 23 local governments of Kaduna State, flooded the APC 2023 campaign office in the NEPA area along Muhammadu Buhari Way, singing songs welcoming Shehu Sani back to the APC.

According to the supporters, they have convinced their leader, Shehu Sani, to rejoin the ruling party, and they are confident that he will officially defect to the APC next week.

One of the leaders of the decamping members and Sani’s former Campaign Director in the PRP, Monday Jaji, said he has been pushing for Sani’s defection for over two years because of his track record of achievements while he served as Senator of Kaduna Central on the platform of the APC.

Jaji described Shehu Sani as a man of the masses who stands for the truth.

According to him, “When he was a Senator, Comrade Sani built seven hospitals across his constituency. He distributed over 200 transformers to communities, assisted the poor masses, and even bought a house for destitutes in Kano Road. Shehu Sani built a hospital in Chikun and built three in Igabi Local Government, Rigachikun, and Giwa Local Government.”

Receiving the detectors, Kaduna State Chairman of the APC, Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada (rtd), expressed delight on the return of the defectors to the APC, saying that the development will propel the APC and Kaduna State to greater heights.
