 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results. SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER BEGS THE GOVERNMENT FOR MERCY.(PHOTO).

 A suspected kidnapper who collected N1.5m ransom from the family of his two victims in Plateau state, has begged the government for mercy. 

 

The suspect, Umar Adam abducted the two minors, a boy and girl, and demanded a ransom of N20 million but subsequently accepted N1.5 million to release the victims.


 

He was nabbed by residents of the NEPA community in Jos North Local Government Area of the state last month. 


 

Adam made the appeal when he was paraded alongside other suspects at the state police command on Friday, September 6, where he claimed it was his first time engaging in kidnapping. 

 

“I kidnapped two teenagers and held them in an uncompleted building. After collecting the N1.5 million as ransom, I was on my way to release the victims and hand them over to their relatives when suddenly people apprehended me,” he said. 

 

"This is my first time of committing kidnapping. I beg the government to please show mercy on me. It was a mistake and I promise I will never do it again. I am pleading with the government."
