 Nicole Kidman recalls the heartbreaking moment she found out her mom died Nicole Kidman has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she learned of her mother Janelle’s death just as she was about to accept a best actress award at the Venice International Film Festival.  The Babygirl star recalled being backstage when she received the news, saying she returned to her room “completely devastated” and unsure how she would move forward without her mother, who had been such a central part of her life. She described the “harrowing” attempt to leave Venice in the middle of the night to return to Australia, only to turn back, overwhelmed and alone.  Director Halina Reijn later read a statement on Kidman’s behalf, dedicating the award to Janelle and acknowledging the collision of art and life in that painful moment. SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER BEGS THE GOVERNMENT FOR MERCY.(PHOTO).

 A suspected kidnapper who collected N1.5m ransom from the family of his two victims in Plateau state, has begged the government for mercy. 

 

The suspect, Umar Adam abducted the two minors, a boy and girl, and demanded a ransom of N20 million but subsequently accepted N1.5 million to release the victims.


 

He was nabbed by residents of the NEPA community in Jos North Local Government Area of the state last month. 


 

Adam made the appeal when he was paraded alongside other suspects at the state police command on Friday, September 6, where he claimed it was his first time engaging in kidnapping. 

 

“I kidnapped two teenagers and held them in an uncompleted building. After collecting the N1.5 million as ransom, I was on my way to release the victims and hand them over to their relatives when suddenly people apprehended me,” he said. 

 

"This is my first time of committing kidnapping. I beg the government to please show mercy on me. It was a mistake and I promise I will never do it again. I am pleading with the government."
