First introduced as a pilot scheme in 2025, the policy targets applicants seeking B1 and B2 visas, which are designated for business and tourism.   Prison break in Borno as inmates escape


An unconfirmed number of inmates have escaped from a local prison in Maiduguri, after a devastating flood submerged the facility.


According to reports gathered, the rising waters damaged the prison, breaching security barriers and compromising structural integrity, which facilitated the escape of an number of inmates.


Many of those who escaped are deemed highly dangerous and potentially armed, increasing the risk to public safety in a region already troubled by insurgency.


Authorities have launched a manhunt, deploying additional resources to recapture the fugitives and address the growing threat.
