Woman Arrested for Allegedly Poisoning Stepdaughter in Limbe

A 38-year-old woman named Catherine is now being held at Buea Central Prison after reportedly admitting to poisoning her 13-year-old stepdaughter.

The shocking confession came during her statement to authorities at the Limbe 1 Gendarmerie brigade. Catherine revealed that she put a harmful substance called Mocap into the girl’s food. She claimed that growing conflict with her husband, fueled by the girl's behavior, pushed her to commit the act.

The situation became critical when the stepdaughter started showing signs of poisoning. The landlord, Job Bekondo, discovered the girl in distress, foaming at the mouth and convulsing on the ground. He quickly called for help, and neighbors rushed the young girl to the hospital, where she was treated in time and survived the incident.

The case has caused outrage in Towe quarters, Livanda village, where the community is demanding Catherine be banished. They believe she is too dangerous to remain in the neighborhood after attempting to harm her stepdaughter.
