 NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable. US arms manufacturers, whose stock prices continue to skyrocket because of our country’s financing of Israel’s aggression.

I want to express my solidarity with these courageous young leaders and with the Palestinian people who continue to fight for self-determination in the face of these unspeakable, horrific, and unconscionable atrocities being imposed on them with our tax dollars.

The arming by the US of this government gone mad is a continuing moral failure by the Biden Administration. The weakness of the International Criminal Court in delaying approval of the arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant is also inexcusable. That court needs to believe in and defend its own mandate. So does the International Court of Justice which must immediately set a date for the commencement of the genocide case against Israel brought by South Africa. The rule of law must mean something.

Mass acts of resistance like the one taking place in New York today are absolutely critical.
