 Setting the Records Straight on  Citizen Asar Michael Sesugh's  Death The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  EFCC,  considered it imperative to clear the air on some recent incidents at its Makurdi Zonal Directorate,  Benue State.   Operatives of the Directorate arrested 26 suspected cyber fraudsters on April 28,  2026.  They were profiled and kept in custody for further investigations after obtaining a Remand Order at a Magistrate Court.  Shortly after their arrest,  specifically on May 4,  2026,  three of the suspects sought permission to use the lavatory at the Directorate's  Holding Facility and were permitted.   They cashed in on the opportunity,  broke the toilet's roof and escaped from detention.  Several efforts were made to re- arrest them to no avail.  40 People Trapped As Building Collapses In Abuja. 


No fewer than 40 people are trapped under the rubble of a building that collapsed on Saturday in the Sabon Lugbe area of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.


As of press time, sympathizers and emergency workers are on-site, working to rescue those still caught beneath the debris.


The building, reportedly under construction, collapsed in the early hours, prompting calls for immediate intervention from government agencies and emergency response teams.


Witnesses at the scene have expressed urgency for additional support to aid ongoing rescue efforts.


“No fewer than 40 persons are currently trapped in a building collapse that occurred in the Sabon Lugbe area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. People are under this rubble. It is a building under construction. We are calling on the government and relevant agencies to come and rescue those who are trapped here,” an eyewitness said.


This incident comes just weeks after a section of a two-storey residential building collapsed in Abuja’s Kubwa area. In that case, four people were rescued, while an unconfirmed number of others were initially feared trapped. The Kubwa building was located close to Cupid Hotel on Sultan Dasuki Way.
