 Tinubu To World Leaders: We Won’t Raise Taxes On Vulnerable Nigerians .....Says his administration prioritising the poor  ....Governors to take position on tax bills  ....We strongly support reforms – IMF President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured world leaders that his administration will continue to prioritise the welfare of the poor and most vulnerable even as the economic reforms bear fruit. President Tinubu stated this on Wednesday night in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, when the managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, paid him a courtesy call on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders’ Summit. While acknowledging that the reforms had weakened Nigerians’ purchasing power, President Tinubu, in a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, said his administration will continue to provide social safety nets to cushion the unintended consequences. "I was with a friend of mine recently in Dubai, I don't want to mention his name. And he told me that they were begging Wizkid to come and perform for N32-million years ago but Wizkid turned it down.   SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
