 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.  Government Dissolves Caretaker Committee of Old Mercedes Spare Parts Dealers Association Amafor-Nkpor-Agu

The Government of Anambra State through the office of Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade and Market, has dissolved the caretaker committee of the Old Mercedes Spare Parts Dealers Association Amafor-Nkpor-Agu, Idemili North LGA under the Chairmanship of Mr Okonkwo Sunday at the expiration of their tenure since August 2022.


The Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo commended their efforts toward promotion of peace and harmony that existed in the market over the years.


He, then, directed the former Chairman to handover the affairs of the market to the newly instituted Committee Chairman, Mr. Martin Ezeokeke within seven days from Sept. 2, 2024.


Gov. Soludo, therefore, charged the new chairman to ensure a viable administration and effective collection of government’s accrued revenue.


The  12 man committee include; Mr. Martin Ezeokeke- Chairman, Nnamdi Ikwuazom- Vice Chairman, Afah Byron Chigozie-Secretary, Daniel Nwaokeke-Assistant Secretary, Maduka Egolum-Financial Secretary, Christian Okoye-Treasurer, and Hyacinth Nnaji -PRO.


Others are Cosmas Umenze- Provost 1, Emeka Omekantinu- Provost 2, James Okoli-Member, Sunday Muobike- Member and Oluchukwu Okoli-Member.
