 BAUCHI STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE 31/10/2024 The Editors, ZAAR FESTIVAL: Police to uphold court order and ban 2024 Zaar festival …as the Commissioner of Police Bauchi State Command announces proactive measures to ensure community safety and harmony In light of the High Court’s decision, the Bauchi State Police Command would like to inform the public that the 2024 Zaar Festival, originally scheduled for November 2, 2024, has been suspended following a court restraining order issued on October 30, 2024. This decision follows an earlier suspension announced on September 27, 2024. Historically, the Zaar Festival has been associated with incidents of conflict, resulting in attacks on individuals, damage to property, and disruption of public order. Consequently, the organizers of the festival, along with any individuals involved, are prohibited from conducting any related processions in Tafawa Balewa, Bogoro Local Government Area, or any other location, until a definitive court ruli

 APL Electric Company Ltd Announces Plans for Tariff Review


APL Electric Company Ltd (Aba Power) has informed its customers of plans to review its current tariff upwards. This announcement was made during a three-day customer engagement held on October 23, 24, and 25, 2024 in various locations across Aba, aimed at involving customers in key decisions affecting their service.


Throughout the engagement, Chief Operating Officer Engr. Blessing Ogbe highlighted that the adjustment is driven by rising gas costs and other economic pressures, and is necessary to enhance Aba Power's ability to provide a reliable power supply. “The new tariff will empower us to serve you better, providing reliable power and the needed resources to maintain and expand the network,” Engr. Ogbe assured attendees.


Customers at the event applauded Aba Power for improvements in service reliability but emphasized the need for a balanced review that considers the economic challenges faced by many residents.


Engr. Ogbe concluded by reaffirming Aba Power’s dedication to its mission: “We remain committed to lighting up Aba and empowering the people of this great Enyimba city.”
